The Squidoo Community

I haven't been at Squidoo long, but I absolutely love the community spirit there. That is something that the Internet has been lacking for sometime, despite all of the social networking hoopla. Even the most popular social networking sites just feel like they lack that special spirit.

You see, I believe that the spirit of the Internet is people helping people by sharing information - without cost. That's the way that it started, and that's the way it should continue. Somewhere a long the way, we lost that.

While Squidoo is monitized, and many people do join the site in an effort to earn money (which is perfectly acceptable in the way that it is done), it also has a broader purpose. It brings people together, for the purpose of sharing valuable information, for free. In the process, it also helps those people to bring relevant sites of interest together, making it possible to get the information that you are looking for, without having to wade through piles and piles of spammish bull.

Congratulations, Squidoo, on recapturing the Spirit of the Internet.
